About Us

Mission Statement

Families for St Charles Schools PAC recruits, and supports, candidates for the school board. We support academic excellence, transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. We reject attempts to divide people by race, gender, or disability, or to teach that those characteristics determine their destiny. Instead, we work to create a district that provides a high-quality, knowledge-based education for all students so they can be fully prepared to participate in society.

Pro-Parent

We believe that the role a parent plays in the education of their child is paramount.  The more involved a parent is in their child’s education, the better chance that child has of succeeding and reaching his/her full potential.  Therefore, we believe that schools should be supportive of parents by fostering a positive parent/teacher relationship, and by allowing parents visibility into the classroom materials used in the instruction of their children.  We also believe that parents have the ultimate authority over, and responsibility for, the values that their children are taught.

Pro-Student

We believe that every student, regardless of race, sex, or disability, deserves an education that empowers them so they can be prepared to participate in a civil society. Our schools should encourage students to develop strong work ethics and respect for our Nation’s Founding principles including the primacy of truth. Furthermore, students should be taught how to think, not what to think.

Pro-Teacher

We believe that a great teacher can make all the difference in child’s ability to learn. A great teacher is

one that is able to present the material in a way that attracts and keeps a child’s interest in the subject

matter, as well as help a child understand the information presented and develop applied knowledge of

it. Those of us who have experienced the difference a great teacher makes, know that we want our

district to attract and keep that kind of talent. We believe that in order to attract the best teachers, our

district needs to be able to pay our teachers a competitive wage, and that this should be prioritized in

our district budget.

Pro-Academic Achievement

We are seeing an alarming decline in academic performance in our school district. Only 54% of 3rd

grade students are proficient in English, which is a 21% decline over 5 years. By the 7th grade, English

proficiency drops to 34% which is a 24% decline over 5 years. We see a similar picture with

mathematics: only 52% of 3rd grade students are proficient, and by 8th grade, the proficiency drops to

35%. We recognize that there are many problems in our society today that has made both teaching and

learning very challenging, but the bottom line is that if our children are not equipped to read, write and

do basic math, they will not have the proper foundation laid to succeed in more rigorous studies or be

prepared to contribute positively to society

Pro-Fiscal Responsibility

Proper management of the districts funds is critical to ensure teachers have the resources they need as well as the ability for a student to have positive academic performance. A school district’s reputation as well as the academic performance greatly affect the property value of the homes within that district. We believe that all board members should be operating under these fundamental principles:

Key Pillars of being fiscally responsible:

Monitor data, public policy, and legislation on an ongoing basis-

Since district finances are closely tied to enrollment and per-pupil funding allowances, recognizing and analyzing trends allows school finance officers to make data-driven decisions, proactively create projections, and anticipate impending challenges.

Operate with transparency and accountability-

Tailoring communications to various groups allows school finance officers to collaborate effectively with school board members, administrators, academic leaders, and community members.

Minimize un-necessary administrative costs

Structure capital costs effectively

Pro-Accountability/Transparency

We believe that all school board members in public education have a duty to be informed of school-related topics, to be informed of laws in our state, abide by them, and respect parents' rights.

In Saint Charles School District, the Special Education department makes up 18.7% of our student body. We need board members that will recognize this statistic and hold administrators accountable to file required reports to ensure that the special education department is fully funded. Special education funding is critical to ensure teachers are provided needed resources.

This allows greater visibility to ensure parents' rights are upheld, preventing mistakes that could lead to law violations. Teachers will be able to have help in their classroom and focus on educating the child if the department is fully funded.

Pro-Protecting a Child’s Innocence

Children see the world through an untainted lens of trust, curiosity, and wonder, free from judgment, hatred, or prejudice towards others.  They naturally trust the adults in their lives; this trust, combined with their naivety, leaves them in a position of vulnerability.  Teachers, administrators, and school counselors have a duty to parents to honor a child’s natural state of innocence.  We believe that preserving childhood innocence is essential to a child's development and is a vital part of children becoming healthy, well-adjusted adults who will contribute positively to their communities.

Families for St Charles Schools PAC follows all the transparency and accountability laws of the state of

Missouri by filing with the Missouri Ethics Commission (MEC).
